THE DEAL
Help keep Pride weekend free for everyone! Raise funds for your organization while having fun at the festival. Many groups return year after year to participate as its an easy way to get “free” donations while also helping Pride.
WHAT IS FESTIVAL DONATIONS?
It’s the most important way community groups and Atlanta Pride raise money together during the Pride Festival and Parade. Volunteers walk throughout the park and along the parade route asking people to give a little … or a lot!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Throughout the weekend, volunteers collect for at least one 2-hour shift. The volunteers are positioned throughout the festival in assigned areas and collect money from the tens of thousands of people who come to PRIDE. On Sunday, volunteers may also walk along the parade route. The more volunteers you have and the more shifts covered, the more money you can raise!
WHY DOES ATLANTA PRIDE NEED MONEY?
Atlanta Pride’s sponsors cover approximately 30% of the costs of producing the Pride Festival and Parade. Atlanta is one of the few major cities still offering a completely free festival! If it is to remain free and open to all, everyone will need to help.
In years past, donations have averaged approximately $0.33 per person. To cover all costs, the goal needs to be $1.00 donated per person this year.
GETTING STARTED AND QUESTIONS
First: recruit volunteers from your organization to collect donations. The more people you recruit the more funds your group will earn for your organization and for Atlanta Pride.
Second: complete the enclosed form and return it to Atlanta Pride via mail or email. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.
BUT IS IT HARD TO DO?
“The first time our organization signed-up, our groups thought that collecting money at such a huge event was going to be very hard, but they found out that people came up to you and gave freely to such a worth while cause. We didn’t know that collecting money could be so easy…”
Luis Nanu Rivera, First MCC – Atlanta
PLEASE NOTE
All organizations are required to commit to a minimum of one 2-hour shift. We recommend covering two 2-hour shifts or more to ensure good collections for your group. Each shift must have at least 2 people able to collect together. After Pride weekend, a check will be sent to your organization for 50% of what was collected at the event!
