SUMMARY:Reel Resistance: "Lonesome Cowboys" Film Screening and Community Summit
DESCRIPTION:As part of our 55th anniversary celebration\, Atlanta Pride is partnering with Out on Film for REEL RESISTANCE: How the Lonesome Cowboys Raid Sparked the Southern Queer Rights Movement. Join us for a two-day film screening and community summit exploring the powerful legacy of queer resistance in the South\, featuring a special screening of Lonesome Cowboys— Andy Warhol’s provocative 1968 underground film. \nOn August 5\, 1969\, just weeks after the Stonewall Uprising\, Atlanta police raided the Ansley Mall Mini-Cinema\, which was showing Lonesome Cowboys\, targeting members of the LGBTQ+ community in what would become a galvanizing moment for queer resistance in the South. The aftermath of the raid led to the formation of the Georgia Gay Liberation Front\, laying the groundwork for the first Atlanta Pride Festival and the broader Southern queer liberation movement. \nThrough film\, discussion\, and collective reflection\, REEL RESISTANCE will explore how this moment helped spark decades of activism\, art\, and community building in Georgia and beyond. \nThis project is funded in part by grants from The Community Corps and South Arts\, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and Georgia Council for the Arts.

DESCRIPTION:PRIDE GLASSWARE RELEASE\nAll profits from the 2025 pride glassware will be donated to @atlantapride’s grant initiative\, “Pride Across the Peach State”\, which focuses on uplifting\, supporting\, and amplifying the efforts of local & grassroots Pride organizations across the state of Georgia. \nBEER SPECIAL\nWe’ll have multiple LBGTQ+ supporting breweries on draft and highlighted in our coolers. \nFUN\nOutdoor games with our favorite drag queens – @oliveandagatha! \n2 pm: Weiner Catch \n3 pm: Musical Wieners \n4 pm: Weiner Launch \n\n  \nRed’s will have their food menu available\, with the best hot dogs in town\, and have over 200 types of beer\, wine\, cider\, mead\, hard kombucha & seltzer and non-alcoholic options for everyone. \nAmple\, free parking is available in the Grant Park Clinic and behind the church*\, to the right of Red’s (south). You can also park in front of Red’s or street parking off Benteen Way (0.1 mile away). Do not park in front of Iglesia Pentecostal el Tabernaculo de Restauracion or across the street on Warmbreeze Road. You will be towed. \nLove your pup? Dogs are not allowed inside but are welcome in the outdoor beer garden. There is direct access to the beer garden along the south side of our building. Follow the concrete path through the bamboo forest.
