SUMMARY:2025 Atlanta Pride Parade
DESCRIPTION:Get ready for the Atlanta Pride Parade—the Festival’s biggest and most fabulous event! With over 100\,000 people flooding the streets of Midtown Atlanta\, it’s the city’s largest parade. On Sunday\, October 12\, the Atlanta Pride Parade steps off at 12 PM from the Civic Center MARTA Station\, makes its way north on Peachtree Street\, east on 10th Street\, and ends at the Charles Allen Gate of Piedmont Park across from Midtown High School.\n–\nCheck out www.atlantapride.org for a detailed map and come join the party! Bring your friends\, your pride\, and your loudest cheers—let’s make some noise and show our support for the community!\n–\nParade assembly begins at 8 AM\, with nearly 300 groups and more than 5\,000 participants marching before a crowd of 100\,000 spectators. Streets along the route in Downtown and Midtown will be fully closed during the four-hour event\, and 10th Street will remain closed for one hour afterward to allow crowds to clear safely. Attendees are encouraged to take MARTA and other public transportation. Only pre-registered entries will be permitted in the parade.

DESCRIPTION:As part of our 55th anniversary celebration\, Atlanta Pride is partnering with Out on Film for REEL RESISTANCE: How the Lonesome Cowboys Raid Sparked the Southern Queer Rights Movement. Join us for a two-day film screening and community summit exploring the powerful legacy of queer resistance in the South\, featuring a special screening of Lonesome Cowboys— Andy Warhol’s provocative 1968 underground film. \nOn August 5\, 1969\, just weeks after the Stonewall Uprising\, Atlanta police raided the Ansley Mall Mini-Cinema\, which was showing Lonesome Cowboys\, targeting members of the LGBTQ+ community in what would become a galvanizing moment for queer resistance in the South. The aftermath of the raid led to the formation of the Georgia Gay Liberation Front\, laying the groundwork for the first Atlanta Pride Festival and the broader Southern queer liberation movement. \nThrough film\, discussion\, and collective reflection\, REEL RESISTANCE will explore how this moment helped spark decades of activism\, art\, and community building in Georgia and beyond. \nThis project is funded in part by grants from The Community Corps and South Arts\, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and Georgia Council for the Arts.
