Statement on the National Rollback of DEI Resources & Initiatives

Atlanta Pride strongly condemns the growing, coordinated effort to dismantle Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs, resources, and initiatives across the country—an attack fueled by executive orders, state legislation, and political pressure that seeks to reverse decades of progress. By eliminating these critical programs, institutions are deepening systemic inequities, making schools, workplaces, and communities less accessible, welcoming, and safe.

DEI initiatives have long provided advocacy, community-building, and essential support for people striving for fairness and opportunity. Their removal sends a clear and dangerous message: the well-being of LGBTQ+ individuals, communities of color, and other historically underrepresented groups is not a priority.

Atlanta Pride stands in firm opposition to these actions, and we remain committed to advocating for policies and programs that foster inclusion, belonging, and equal opportunity. We urge community members to take action by joining us at Pride to the Capitol on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, when Atlanta Pride and other LGBTQ+ organizations will rally at the Georgia State Capitol to fight back against a wave of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation. Since March 4 is the last full legislative day before Crossover Day—a critical juncture in the legislative session—this is our time to show up, speak out, and demand equality.

While we continue to fight against these attacks, we also recognize that many individuals, organizations, and companies are stepping up in this moment to double down on their commitment to DEI efforts. Many global corporations and organizations—including several based in metro Atlanta—are reaffirming their dedication to building workplaces and communities that reflect diversity, equity, and inclusion. We applaud and commend these public displays of support and allyship.

RSVP for Pride to the Capitol at mobilize.us/hrcga, and let’s push forward toward a future where DEI is not just an ideal but a lived reality. Now, more than ever, our voices matter.
