Atlanta Pride Land Acknowledgment
Atlanta Pride humbly acknowledges the forced removal of the Muskogee (Creek) and Cherokee peoples from their ancestral home, permanently disrupting centuries of thriving culture. We pay tribute to their extensive roots across Georgia, including the theft and destruction of sacred sites and traditions of the people that shaped this land for millennia.
The grounds on which we gather and the streets we march today bear the weight of the continued struggles of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color caused by systemic racism, colonialism, and the legacy of slavery in the South. Even as we honor the vibrant and diverse LGBTQ+ community, we must continuously evolve and adapt our efforts to deconstruct the long-standing structures that perpetuate inequality, exclusion, and harm.
In alignment with our core values, Atlanta Pride pledges to raise the voices of oppressed people, fight racism, and confront injustice through our work, our words, and our celebrations.
Diversity Statement
At Atlanta Pride, we believe that true progress stems from an unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in all that we do. We celebrate the full spectrum of LGBTQ+ identities and work to ensure that every voice is heard, valued, and uplifted.
Equity is not just a principle—it’s a practice. It requires recognizing and addressing the systemic injustices faced by LGBTQ+ people, especially those at the intersections of race, gender identity, ability, and class. Atlanta Pride puts equity into action by investing in strategically under-valued communities through programs like our Pride Across the Peach State grant initiative, prioritizing diverse vendors and performers at the Atlanta Pride Festival, and amplifying intersectional voices and organizations throughout our year-round programming.
From our team and leadership structure to the festival stage, Atlanta Pride is dedicated to building a future where all LGBTQ+ people are visible, valued, and empowered to thrive in a safe, equitable, and liberated world.
