Steven Igarashi

A Georgia native, Steven Igarashi has built his career in service to others. He joined Atlanta Pride’s staff in 2021 as the organization’s first Director of Equity and Engagement, with over a decade of experience in the public and private sectors. In 2024, he transitioned to the role of Director of Communications and Community Engagement. In this role, he actively works to broaden Atlanta Pride’s community relationships and to platform a diversity of voices and perspectives from our community. A committed changemaker, he is passionate about storytelling and community building.
He has worked extensively in HIV/AIDS advocacy and prevention work, including chairing the Georgia Prevention and Care Council. He serves as the founder and Executive Director of Drag Story Hour Atlanta, which has received international acclaim for creating visibility and representation while promoting creative expression, tolerance, acceptance, and a lifelong passion for literacy. As a member of the Mayor’s LGBTQ+ Advisory Board, he advises Mayor Andre Dickens on cultural arts and LGBTQ+ aging. He has also served on the Board of Directors for Out Front Theatre and the Atlanta Hawks LGBTQ+ Advisory Council. Steven is enthusiastic about visibility and representation.
He makes his home in Atlanta with his dog, Bailey.
